Prophet comment row: stone-pelting and arson in Prayagraj as protests turn violent

Protests against comments on Prophet Mohammad turned violent as protesters resorted to stone-pelting and set vehicles on fire in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. 

According to reports, more than 10 policemen were injured in the violence. The official car of Prayagraj ADG who was on the ground to control the law and order situation was also damaged. 

The police used tear gas to disperse the protesting mob. Around half a dozen people have been reportedly detained by the police. 

Protests had broken out over comments by now suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma and expelled Delhi unit media head Naveen Jindal.
