Gorakhpur, Jul 1 (PTI) — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded President Droupadi Murmu as "an inspiration for crores of Indian women" and a "symbol of the journey from ground to summit." President Murmu embodies the spirit of overcoming adversity with determination and prioritizing the nation, Yogi Adityanath remarked.

Addressing a ceremony at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in Gorakhpur, where President Murmu inaugurated new academic facilities and laid the foundation stone for a girls' hostel, Adityanath welcomed her presence. He emphasized, "President Murmu's life journey from grassroots to the highest constitutional post is a testament to overcoming challenges with resolve and dedication to the welfare of the nation and the underprivileged."

Highlighting President Murmu's engagements during her Gorakhpur visit, despite adverse weather, Adityanath praised her deep commitment to education, public service, and youth empowerment. The chief minister recounted how President Murmu reached Bareilly early Monday to attend the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) convocation and then led the first convocation of AIIMS Gorakhpur.

On Tuesday, she inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh AYUSH University and had personal interactions with students along city roads — an "unprecedented" and moving gesture, as described by Adityanath. Quoting poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Adityanath compared Murmu's tireless spirit to that of a true national leader.

"She never sought rest, worked amidst challenges, and embodies service, strength, and sacrifice," Adityanath commented, highlighting her presence at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University as a great honor for the region and the state. Adityanath highlighted the prestigious institutions visited by President Murmu, noting IVRI's global recognition in agriculture and animal sciences, AIIMS' modern healthcare infrastructure, and unprecedented recognition of AYUSH under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Adityanath further noted the new AYUSH University in Gorakhpur signifies a major leap in holistic health education in UP. Discussing Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Adityanath explained its integrated education model, combining allopathic, ayurvedic, nursing, paramedical, pharmacy, and agriculture education, serving as both an academic and research hub.

The chief minister traced the legacy of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, an institution established by Mahant Digvijay Nath in 1932, which runs the university. From addressing educational backwardness in Gorakhpur, it has grown to one of the region's prominent educational hubs, largely due to the efforts of Gorakhnath Peeth and Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad post-Independence.

He concluded by thanking President Murmu, expressing confidence that her guidance would inspire students, faculty, and the entire community of Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
