Soon after reports about US media being denied access to accompany President Joe Biden for his bilateral talks with Indian counterpart Narendra Modi surfaced, Congress launched a scathing attack saying India's world press freedom index ranking on a continuous decline.

Taking to X, Congress said, “Journalists have come from America with President Joe Biden. These journalists wanted to question PM Modi and Joe Biden. The American government was ready for questions, but the Modi government did not allow journalists to ask questions.”

PM Modi and Joe Biden held bilateral talks soon after the latter landed in New Delhi for the G20 Summit.

According to a Reuters report, the US media personnel were not allowed to accompany Biden. The officials typically follow the leader to capture his appearances
