UP ex-CM Mulayam Singh Yadav shifted to ICU as health deteriorates; son Akhilesh rushes to hospital

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's health deteriorated on 2 October 2022, and he was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

The Samajwadi Party tweeted that his condition was stable. The SP founder has been undergoing treatment at the hospital since August 2022, after an earlier stint in July.

Mulayam's son and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was seen reaching the hospital the same day. Mulayam's brother Shivpal Yadav was already present.

Many Opposition leaders wished Mulayam a speedy recovery, including Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary also wished that the veteran UP politician is "back to best health soon".
