Amid a debate in the country on a possible Uniform Civil Code, the BJP's ideological parent organisation RSS said that there is more support and less opposition to such a law.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Indresh Kumar on July 5 said, "UCC means freedom from religious riots. It means not criticising other religions."
"This law will eliminate caste and untouchability. It will end injustice against women," he added.
While stating that there would not be any curbs on religious practices, Kumar said, "UCC means we are one nation, one people."
