Special Parliament session: Govt likely to introduce One Nation, One Election and UCC

The 'One Nation, One Election' bill is likely to be introduced during Parliament's special session from September 18 to 22, India Today reported citing sources.

The idea behind 'One Nation, One Election' is holding all polls, including the Lok Sabha and state assembly polls simultaneously.  The idea has been studied by the Law Commission of India.

Other reports suggest the Centre could also bring in the UCC and Women Reservation Bill in the 5-day-long special Parliament session. 

Notably, earlier in the day, the government convened a special session of Parliament for five days between September 18 and 22. However, there was no official word on the agenda of the session which will be held days after the G20 Summit in the national capital on September 9 and 10.
