Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on 3 February 2023 waded into the Ramcharitmanas controversy sparked by RJD and Samajwadi Party leaders.

Baghel said, "You can see Ram in any form. If you chant 'Mara Mara', you'll eventually start saying 'Ram Ram'. Some say 'Mara Mara', some say 'Ram Ram'. What's the difference? Even if you oppose Ram, you say his name."

"On this matter, Vinoba Bhave said a very nice thing. A religious text was written in some other period. So, in today's time, in today's situation, it should be deliberated upon, and even the smallest thing should be absorbed after giving it proper thought," he added.
