The Narendra Modi government on 6 April 2023 spoke in Parliament on whether some retired judges are part of an "anti-India gang".

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said "Ji nahi," or 'no' to a question on whether "a few former judges of the Supreme Court" are members of this alleged gang.

He added that the Law Ministry receives complaints regarding both serving and retired judges from time to time, but these are forwarded to the Chief Justice of India.
