The big meeting of opposition parties in the national capital on Wednesday failed to throw up any name as candidate for the presidential elections in July.

The joint opposition is keen on nominating NCP chief Sharad Pawar but the veteran politician has rejected their offer.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was instrumental in organising the meeting, told reporters that the opposition parties have passed a resolution to field a joint candidate for the July 18 presidential polls.

She also added that Sharad Pawar will always have backing of all parties should he change his mind.
