On cam: BMC engineer slapped; Mumbai police book Maharashtra ex-minister

A protest against the demolition of a Shiv Sena (UBT) office turned violent with party leaders allegedly assaulting a civic engineer in Mumbai.

Former Maharashtra minister Anil Parab and 4 others were booked by Mumbai police on June 27. The incident took place a day earlier when a protest march was conducted in Mumbai civic body BMC's H-East ward.

Assistant engineer Ajay Patil was allegedly assaulted and also threatened with dire consequences.

After the incident, BMC officials approached the Vakola police with a complaint, based on which an FIR was registered against Parab and four others - Santosh Kadam, Sada Parab, Uday Dalwi and Haji Aleem Khan.

The case was registered under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servants from discharge of duty) and 506-2 (criminal intimidation).
