Nagaland voting: violence in Tyui constituency; stones pelted; voting stalled for an hour, say reports

Amid voting for Assembly elections in Nagaland, violence was reported from Tyui constituency in Wokha district on 27 February 2023.

Janata Dal (United) workers were accused of pelting stones outside a polling station, as per reports. The seat is seeing a contest between the state's Deputy Chief Minister, and JD(U), RJD, and independent candidates.

An elderly woman and a young man were reportedly injured in the incident. The attack led to halting of voting for around an hour.

The process resumed after security personnel brought the situation under control.
