The Election Commission on Monday showcased the prototype of Remote Voting Machine for migrant workers to the representatives of opposition parties.

If implemented after stakeholder consultations, a RVM would enable migrant voters to vote from remote polling stations.

The meeting was attended by many opposition party leaders including Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and RJD leader Manoj Jha.

On Sunday, some opposition parties had decided to oppose the EC's proposal on remote electronic voting machine saying the proposal lacked clarity around the definition of migrant labourers.
