Bypolls to 13 assembly constituencies in seven states began on Wednesday morning.
Voting is underway for four seats in West Bengal, three in Himachal Pradesh, two in Uttarakhand and one each in Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The by-elections will decide the fate of many veterans and some debutantes including Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur.
The counting of votes for the bypolls will be held on July 13.
