A senior BJP leader in Ladakh has reportedly been expelled from the party.

Nazir Ahmed, the BJP's state vice-president, was penalised after his son Manzoor eloped with a Buddhist woman, as per an NDTV report.

The BJP on August 16 said that the elopement was unacceptable to all religious communities as it jeopardised communal harmony and unity.

The party added that it gave an opportunity to Nazir Ahmed to clarify his involvement in the sensitive issue of elopement.
