Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Chandrakant Patil on 10 April 2023 said that not a single Shiv Sena worker was near the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya when it was illegally demolished on 6 December 1992.

Patil told a regional news channel that he was in Ayodhya at the time on behalf of Bajrang Dal to manage 'kar sevaks' arriving at the temple town.

The BJP leader wondered whether Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, who keeps talking about the demolition, was in Ayodhya during the incident.
