Apex court makes sharp remarks on delay in judges' appointment

The Supreme Court of India has questioned why recommendations of high courts to the Collegium has not been sent by the Centre till now. 

The top court's observation came while hearing pleas alleging delay by the Centre in the matter.

The apex court bench observing the matter said addressing the Centre, "Eighty names from high court have been pending for a period of 10 months. There is only a basic process that takes place. Your view has to be known so that the collegium can take a call,". 

The bench also pointed out that due the delay, the transfer of 26 judges and the appointment of a Chief Justice is pending.
