The Lok Sabha membership of Mohammed Faizal, a NCP MP from Lakshdweep was restored on Wednesday, two months after the Kerala High Court stayed his conviction in a criminal case on January 25 this year. Faizal had been sentenced to 10 years in prison in an attempt to murder case on January 11 leading to his immediate disqualification as a Member of Parliament.

Restoration of Faizal’s membership has the potential to impact the controversy surrounding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as a Lok Sabha MP.
