Actor and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, has provided an update on his son, Mark Shankar Pawanovich, who was injured in a school fire in Singapore.
In a statement released on April 8, 2025, Pawan Kalyan stated, “Our youngest son, Mark Shankar, was injured in a school fire in Singapore and is being treated in hospital.
He is gradually recovering." The actor-politician shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally called him after hearing the news, offering words of support that “gave courage" during the difficult time.
He added that the Indian High Commissioner in Singapore was instructed to extend necessary assistance. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also reached out to him over the phone.
He expressed gratitude to everyone who prayed for Mark’s recovery, including politicians, actors, and well-wishers who conducted poojas at temples on his behalf. Concluding his message, Pawan Kalyan said, “Mark Shankar is gradually recovering due to these good-hearted wishes and blessings.
I sincerely thank everyone." On April 8, a fire incident occurred at a shophouse on Singapore’s River Valley Road, where several individuals, including children, were caught in the blaze.
Among those injured was Pawan Kalyan’s eight-year-old son, Mark Shankar, who suffered burns on his limbs and faced breathing difficulties due to smoke exposure.
Emergency crews, including the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), immediately arrived at the location and worked to control the fire.
At the time of the incident, Pawan Kalyan was on an official visit to the Alluri Sitarama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, where he was interacting with local communities.
After completing his scheduled engagements there, he immediately departed for Singapore to be with his son. In light of the emergency, his remaining events planned in Visakhapatnam were cancelled.
Mark, who is currently pursuing his education in Singapore, is under medical care and receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Pawan Kalyan shares two children—son Mark and daughter Polena—with his third wife, Anna Lezhneva.
The family prefers to keep a low profile and is rarely seen making public appearances together.
