Nikhil Gupta, an Indian accused by the US for his alleged involvement in Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun murder plot can be extradited to the United States.

This was ruled by a Czech appeals court on 19 January, The Indian Express reported quoting the Czech Justice Ministry.

However, the final decision on Gupta's extradition will be taken by the country's Justice Minister at a later date, the report said.

Nikhil Gupta was charged by US prosecutors in New York in an indictment unsealed in November last year for working with an Indian government employee in the foiled plot to kill Pannun, who holds dual US and Canadian citizenships.

Gupta was arrested in Prague, the Czech Republic on June 30, 2023, and is being held there currently. The US government is seeking his extradition to America.
