Amritpal Singh, the leader of the group Waris Punjab De, is an 'ISI agent' who was brought to India by the Pakistani spy agency to spread violence over the Khalistan secessionist movement, officials in central intelligence agencies said on 18 March 2023.

The officials claimed that the organisation headed by Singh was getting funds from Pakistan.

Singh, was a truck driver in Dubai before the ISI, with the help of Khalistan supporters based outside India, radicalised him so that he could plunge Punjab again into the dark days of terrorism, they said as quoted by news agency PTI.

As per the report, the radical Sikh preacher had been openly making statements about declaring secession from India and forming Khalistan, threatening Home Minister Amit Shah and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
