Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram, aged 79, experienced a brief health scare at the Sabarmati Ashram on Tuesday when he fainted during a prayer meeting. The incident is believed to have been caused by the oppressive heat following a demanding schedule of events.
Chidambaram had been participating in the Congress Working Committee's extended meeting earlier at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial. After he lost consciousness, fellow Congress members promptly assisted him into an ambulance, which transported him to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.
Chidambaram's son, Karti Chidambaram, reassured the public on social media platform X, stating that his father is recovering well and is undergoing medical assessments by doctors.
The momentary lapse in health sparked concern among party members, but current reports suggest that Chidambaram is in stable condition.
