Balasore, Aug 18 (PTI): An unfortunate mix-up left a family in Odisha's Balasore district grieving when they received the wrong body due to a labelling error on a coffin.

Rakesh Shaw, a 21-year-old supervisor at a private company in Bengaluru, died from electrocution on August 15. His body was transported in an ambulance along with another body from Siliguri, West Bengal, meant for their respective families.

The ambulance delivered Rakesh's coffin to his family in Mulising village and then headed toward Siliguri, according to reports on Monday.

Upon opening the coffin at Mulising village in Soro block, the family was shocked to discover that the body was not Rakesh's.

Immediate contact was made with the company responsible for the coffin dispatch, prompting the ambulance en route to Siliguri to return midway so the correct bodies could be exchanged.

Family members allege that the mix-up occurred due to incorrect labelling of the sticker on the coffin at the dispatch point.
