Noida, Aug 29 (PTI) — On Thursday, the Noida Traffic Police orchestrated a six-kilometer-long green corridor from the DND flyover to the Child PGI hospital located in Sector 30. This initiative enabled an ambulance carrying two critically ill newborn twins to traverse the distance in just three minutes and 52 seconds, as stated by officials. The twins, a boy and a girl, were born prematurely at merely 26 weeks, each weighing approximately 700 grams, and have been fighting severe respiratory and digestive issues for 47 days, according to doctors at Child PGI. Initially, the infants were under care at a private hospital in Najafgarh, Delhi, but were referred for specialized treatment to the advanced neonatal care unit at Child PGI, Noida. Dr. Ruchi Rai, who heads the neonatal intensive care unit at Child PGI, noted, "The twins arrived from Sapling Hospital in Delhi. Both are in extremely critical condition and require ventilators with high settings." Meanwhile, Lakhan Singh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), informed PTI that about 30 traffic police personnel cleared the route for the ambulance. "The corridor spanned six kilometers from DND to Child PGI in Noida, and the ambulance completed this journey in three minutes and 52 seconds," Yadav reported.
