New Delhi, Jul 1 (PTI) Jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana was permitted one-day parole to visit his ailing wife in a west Delhi hospital on Tuesday. He returned to Tihar Jail at 4 pm, according to an official statement. Bawana traveled to the hospital with stringent security measures in place, as over 15 Delhi Police personnel were seen accompanying him.
The route from Tihar Jail to the hospital was thoroughly inspected to prevent any incident akin to a gang war, as noted by a police source. Security was heightened both inside and outside the hospital premises.
The court had sanctioned Bawana's visit to his wife from 10 am to 4 pm; she is currently undergoing treatment for a nerve blockage in her brain. Bawana, regarded as a high-risk inmate, has been incarcerated since 2015 due to multiple murder charges, with a total of 28 cases filed against him, according to a police source.
A prolonged gang conflict persists among rival groups, including the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Kala Jathedi, Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang, and Neetu Daboda gang. After visiting his wife, Bawana was transported back to jail.
In March last year, another incarcerated gangster, Sandeep alias Kala Jatheri, received custody parole for his wedding on March 12. Recently, the Delhi court approved Jatheri's plea seeking interim custody parole to undergo an IVF treatment procedure.
