Navy veterans chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', praise PM Modi on return from Qatar

In a major diplomatic triumph for India, eight veterans of the Indian Navy who were once sentenced to death in Qatar have been freed. Seven of them have returned to India.

Setting foot in their homeland after months of captivity in Qatar, the veterans chanted 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and praised the efforts of the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in securing their release.

The eight Indians who were accused of allegedly spying on a submarine programme had been imprisoned in Qatar since October 2022.
