Naik Rathore, hero of Longewala in 1971 India-Pakistan war passes away

Bhairon Singh Rathore, BSF veteran and hero of Longewala in the 1971 war passed away in Jodhpur on Monday.

81-year-old Rathore died at AIIMS, Jodhpur due to age related ailments.

The braveheart commanded a small BSF unit at the Longewala post that decimated an assaulting Pakistani brigade and tank regiment on December 5, 1971.

Actor Suniel Shetty, who essayed Bhairon Singh Rathore's bravery in the 1997 movie 'Border', paid tributes on Twitter.

"Rest in power Naik Bhairon Singh Ji. Heartfelt condolences to the family," he tweeted.
