New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) — Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has announced the nomination of N K Premachandran as an empanelled member to preside over the proceedings of the House. Premachandran, a leader of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), represents the Kollam constituency in Kerala. Birla made the announcement in the Lok Sabha, stating that Premachandran has been nominated to preside over the proceedings under Section 9 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha. According to the rule, at the start of the House or from time to time, the Speaker nominates a panel of up to 10 Chairpersons from among the members. Any one of these members may preside over the House in the absence of both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker, as requested by either.
