Kolkata, August 26 (PTI): Three mysterious deaths have surfaced from the Anandapur area in South Kolkata, local police reported on Tuesday.
In the first incident, a bar dancer was discovered unconscious at a guesthouse near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. Her companion rushed her to a private hospital, where she was declared dead on Monday. The guesthouse staff mentioned that the duo checked in on Sunday evening. Authorities are investigating the possibility of a drug overdose and are currently awaiting post-mortem results.
The second case involves the decomposed body of a man, approximately 50 years old, discovered hanging from a tree at a picnic spot in Anandapur on Monday. Fishermen in the vicinity alerted the police after detecting a foul odor. While the initial suspicion points to suicide, the police are exploring all possible angles.
In the third instance, a woman's body was found in her residence at Adarshnagar, within the Nonadanga area under Anandapur police station jurisdiction. At this stage, suicide is suspected, but investigations are ongoing. All three bodies have been sent for autopsy.
The Anandapur police station continues to probe these three mysterious deaths reported on Monday, an officer confirmed.
