Muzaffarnagar Incident: 28-Year-Old Arrested After Shootout with Police

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Aug 15 (PTI) - A 28-year-old man has been apprehended by the police following an exchange of gunfire, linked to the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old mentally-challenged girl, an official confirmed on Friday.

The assault reportedly took place as the young girl was on her way back home in a village situated in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking to reporters, Circle Officer Raju Kumar Sab stated that a case was filed against the suspect, identified as Ahsan, based on the complaint lodged by the girl’s father. The police subsequently initiated a manhunt for his arrest.

During the operation, the accused was located and apprehended late Thursday night after a confrontation with the police. The encounter resulted in injuries to the suspect, who was then transported to a hospital for medical attention.
