Mumbai police are set to recreate the crime scene at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence, where the Bollywood actor was repeatedly stabbed by an intruder, an official announced on Sunday.
The accused, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national named Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, was arrested in Thane on Sunday morning. He has been remanded to police custody for five days by a local court.
During this time, police are expected to take Shehzad to Khan’s apartment in the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building to reconstruct the events as part of their investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate Shehzad entered the building early on January 16 with the intent to steal. He reportedly climbed the stairs to the seventh or eighth floor and then used a pipe to access the 12th floor, entering through a bathroom window.
The intruder was spotted by Khan’s staff after emerging from the bathroom, which led to the violent altercation. The 54-year-old actor sustained multiple stab wounds and underwent a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital.
