New Delhi, Aug 15 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concerns about the rising issue of obesity in the country and emphasized the need for collective action to combat it.

Speaking to the nation on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, Modi highlighted expert forecasts indicating that one in every three individuals could become obese in the near future.

"When discussing fitness, I am compelled to raise an important concern. Obesity is becoming a significant challenge that every family should take seriously. We must take proactive steps to protect ourselves from it," he stated.

To address this, Modi reinforced his previous recommendations, urging families to purchase 10 percent less cooking oil and reduce its consumption by the same margin.
