Three Militants Arrested in Manipur for Extortion Activities

Imphal, Oct 15 (PTI): Security forces have apprehended three militants associated with different banned organizations across various districts of Manipur due to their suspected involvement in extortion, police reported on Wednesday.

An active member of the United National Liberation Front (Koireng), named Bicky Sagolsem, was captured from Muslim Basti in Tengnoupal district on Monday evening.

A member of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba) was detained in Lamphel, located in Imphal West district.

Another operative from the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) was arrested at his residence in Top Makha, Imphal East district. Identified as Wangkheirakpam Romeo Meitei (45), he was allegedly involved in extorting money from brick kiln owners and residents in the valley area, authorities said.
