Shahjahanpur (UP), Sep 17: A tragic incident in Shahjahanpur district resulted in the death of a 30-year-old mechanic due to electrocution while he was repairing a combine harvester, police sources reported on Wednesday.
The accident occurred on Tuesday night, leaving two others, including the machine's driver, with burn injuries.
The Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Dwivedi, explained that the incident took place in Jamui village. A large combine harvester, a piece of machinery used to harvest crops such as wheat and paddy, was stationed for repair.
"While mechanic Rajiv Kumar was on the machine, he inadvertently made contact with an overhead electric line, causing the electric current to permeate the entire machinery," SP Dwivedi informed PTI.
Along with Rajiv Kumar, the machine's driver, Hansmukh, and Ankur, who is the son of the combine harvester's owner, were also caught in the shock while on the machine, suffering injuries.
Upon receiving the information, police swiftly reached the location and transported the injured to the hospital, where Rajiv Kumar was declared dead. The other two individuals remain under medical care, as confirmed by an officer.
The mechanic's body has been sent for a postmortem examination, police added.
