The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has banned the sale and slaughter of meat on September 18 on account of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The municipal body has issued the guidelines to all meat shop owners in this regard.

The civic body has also issued a list of rules for organisers of Ganesh pandals. More than 60 window clearance centres issued permits in Bengaluru to ease the process..

The BBMP has also imposed a strict ban on the sale and manufacture of Ganesh idols that are made with Plaster of Paris (POP). A hefty penalty will be imposed if the ban is violated.

Special arrangements have been made at lakes such as Sankey, Halasuru, Yediyur, Agara and Hebbal Lake for the immersion of idols.
