MCD Extends Property Tax Scheme 'SUNIYO' Till December 31 with Late Fee

New Delhi, Sep 26 (PTI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has announced an extension for its Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO) 2025-26. The property tax amnesty scheme, initially set to conclude on September 30, will now be available until December 31.

During this extended period, the existing terms and conditions will remain unchanged. However, a 2 percent late fee will be added to the principal tax amount for payments made between October 1 and December 31, officials confirmed.

Since its inception on June 1, the scheme has attracted 1.16 lakh taxpayers, generating revenue of Rs 370.27 crore. Notably, 65,874 individuals are first-time taxpayers under SUNIYO, adding Rs 187.8 crore to the coffers.

In the current financial year 2025-26, the overall tax collection has reached Rs 2,111.63 crore from 11.63 lakh taxpayers. This represents a 22.5 percent increase in revenue and an 18 percent growth in the taxpayer base compared to the same period last year.
