Imphal, Oct 6 – In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, the police in Manipur's Imphal East district have successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of drug peddling.

The operation led to the seizure of 'World is Yours' or WY tablets, weighing a total of 2 kg, along with a substantial cash amount of Rs 38 lakh. The arrests took place at the suspects' respective residences located at Khomidok Sorok Mapal and Kairang this past Sunday.

The individuals in custody have been identified as Md Ethem Khan and Raju Khan. According to the police, the tablets, WY or 'Yaba'—a term meaning 'crazy medicine' in Thai—are composed of methamphetamine and caffeine. Yaba has gained notoriety as a prevalent drug across Southeast Asia, historically utilized during the Second World War to maintain soldier alertness.
