In a significant crackdown, security forces in Manipur’s Churachandpur district seized six rockets along with a cache of weapons during a search operation, police said on Wednesday.

The operation was conducted on Tuesday in the Loilamkot and Nalon areas under Henglep police station, leading to the discovery of six rockets, a launcher, a country-made mortar (Pompi), a 7.62 mm sniper round, a sniper magazine, and other military-grade equipment.

In a separate action, two cadres of the banned militant outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-PWG) were arrested from Morok Inkhol village in Imphal East. The duo was allegedly involved in extortion activities, targeting the general public, government officials, and local businesses. Security forces recovered a 9 mm pistol with a magazine and seven live rounds from their possession.

Authorities have intensified counterinsurgency operations in the region, aiming to curb militant activities and illegal arms circulation.
