Protests continue in Karnataka over the Cauvery river water-sharing issue.

The state's Mandya district is observing a day-long bandh to oppose the release of Cauvery waters from the state reservoirs to Tamil Nadu.

Security has been tightened in the city as farmers and pro-Kannada outfits protested and raised slogans.

These demonstrations have gained momentum after the Supreme Court declined to intervene with the orders of the Cauvery Water Management Authority, which directed Karnataka to release 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu.
