New Delhi, June 23 (PTI) In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old man, identified as Taufeeq from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested for allegedly pushing a 19-year-old woman off the roof of her house in northeast Delhi's Ashok Nagar. The tragic event unfolded after an argument broke out between the two, who were reportedly in a relationship.
Police sources revealed that the young woman had become upset after discovering that Taufeeq intended to marry another woman. The altercation, which turned fatal, took place on a Monday morning.
Disguised in a burqa, Taufeeq visited the woman's residence, located on the fifth floor, when the argument erupted. Following the incident, the injured woman was immediately taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Consequently, the police added murder charges to the case against Taufeeq.
The unfortunate incident was reported to the Jyoti Nagar police station around 8:30 am on Monday. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine the precise sequence of events.
