A man from Maharashtra's Solapur allegedly poisoned his 14-year-old son for watching adult films. According to India Today news outlet, the accused identified as Vijay Battu dumped his son Vishal's body into a lake on January 13 after giving him a soft drink laced with sodium nitrate.
The man, who worked as a tailor, then lodged a false police complaint that he went missing. During a probe, police found Vishal's body in a lake, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
The report revealed that he was poisoned, following which they started questioning the family.
On January 28, Vijay confessed to his wife that he was responsible for murdering their son. He revealed that he was distressed about receiving several complaints from Vijay's school that he was troubling other students and not focusing on his studies.
Vijay was also unhappy about Vishal's behaviour at home and his addiction to adult films.
Vijay's wife Keerti then informed the police on January 28, after which he was arrested. On January 29, Vijay was produced before a magistrate, who then sent him to a two-day police custody.
