Mumbai, June 26 (PTI) Maharashtra has recorded 24 new COVID-19 cases, elevating the state's tally in the ongoing outbreak to 2,449. No new deaths related to the virus have been reported, the state's health department said on Thursday. Of the newly documented cases, the distribution was as follows: Mumbai accounted for seven cases, followed by Pune with six under its civic jurisdiction. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar reported three cases, while Pimpri-Chinchwad, Panvel, Nagpur, and Navi Mumbai each reported one case. Additionally, the districts of Satara reported two cases, and Raigad and Kolhapur each noted one case. The health department stated that since January 1, a total of 27,963 COVID-19 tests have been conducted across Maharashtra. To date, 2,225 patients who were diagnosed with the virus have recovered successfully. In the city of Mumbai, a total of 980 cases have been reported so far this year, with 539 of them occurring in June alone. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 36 patients have succumbed to the virus across Maharashtra. Notably, 35 out of these 36 individuals had pre-existing health conditions that increased their risk of severe illness.
