Mumbai, Oct 9 (PTI) The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has launched a series of searches in various parts of Pune concerning the suspected radicalization of individuals tied to an ISIS module in the region. Officials revealed the operation on Thursday.
The searches, initiated late Wednesday night, focus on the residences and workplaces of 19 individuals, according to an official who did not disclose further details. These actions are tied to the Pune ISIS module case registered by the ATS in 2023.
Based on precise intelligence reports regarding radicalized individuals, searches have been carried out in the Kondhwa, Khadak, Khadki, Wanavadi, and Bhosari areas of Pune city, an official stated. The ATS officers are currently questioning the suspects.
"Verification of these individuals is actively being conducted by the ATS," the official added, hinting that the scope of the operation could expand. A significant police presence has been maintained in several Kondhwa localities since midnight.
