Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In a tragic incident on Friday morning, a 70-year-old man lost his life and four others sustained injuries after being struck by a speeding car in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The incident occurred around 9:15 am, near the 'Kala Ganpati' temple in the CIDCO area, and the driver of the car has been apprehended, according to an official source.

"Five individuals were hit by the vehicle, resulting in the death of one person. The deceased has been identified as Gunaji Shewale, who was employed as a watchman at a nearby temple," reported an officer from the MIDC CIDCO police station. Among the injured are a 40-year-old woman, who has been admitted to a private hospital, while two others, aged 65 and 60, are receiving treatment at a government hospital in the Chikalthana area, he further informed.

The driver, Prakash Magar, aged 30, fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, law enforcement officials successfully tracked him down and placed him in detention, with an FIR in the process of being registered against him.
