Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) dismissed speculations regarding the purported date for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The confusion arose after a letter from the electoral office emerged on social media, as per which the Election Commission of India had tentatively suggested the poll day as April 16 2024.

CEO later clarified on X that the date was non-binding and stressed that it would only serve as a 'reference for officials to plan activities as per Election Planner of Election Commission of India'.

While the exact election date has not been announced, it is expected to take place in a phased manner between April and May.
