New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) – The proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned until 2 PM on Thursday following a wave of protests by Opposition members on various issues.
Numerous Opposition members gathered in the Well of the House, chanting slogans and attempting to raise specific concerns.
Speaker Om Birla implored the protesting members to cease their slogan chanting and return to their seats. "Do you (protesting members) not wish to discuss issues?" he questioned, further asking if their constituents elected them to engage in such activities in the House.
He emphasized that the House is meant for discussing issues, and remarked that the members' conduct was inappropriate, leading him to adjourn the proceedings until 2 PM.
The session lasted less than seven minutes amidst the ongoing uproar.
The House, however, did manage to extend its congratulations to the scientists for the successful launch of a GSLV rocket, which deployed an earth observation satellite developed collaboratively by ISRO and NASA.
