A day after a man tried to attack Nitish Kumar during a programme, the Bihar Chief Minister asked the police not to take action against him as his mental condition is reportedly not stable.

The incident, which took place in Bakhtiarpur town of Patna district on Sunday, was captured on CCTV camera.

The man has been identified as Shankar Kumar Verma aka Chottu, a resident of Bakhtiarpur town, the police said. He was handed over to local police after the incident.

Following investigation, it was found that the Verma's mental condition is not stable. His relatives informed the authorities of his condition.

The Bihar CM has instructed the officials not to take any harsh action against him and instead asked them to provide medical treatment for his illness.
