Alleged gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed spoke to reporters from inside a police vehicle while being shifted from a Sabarmati jail to Prayagraj for a court hearing.
He was asked about the murder of Umesh Pal, a witness in the killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Ahmed said, "I was in jail. What would I know?"
He added, "My family has been ruined. Mafia had been taken care of earlier. Now, they're only tormenting."
The convoy stopped in Rajasthan for nearly an hour on 11 April 2023 after developing a mechanical issue.
