The prices of tomatoes are skyrocketing in Karnataka, with the kitchen staple being sold for ₹100 per kilogram in Bengaluru on June 26.
There has been an increase of around 200% since May in the price of tomatoes.
They were being sold for around ₹40 per kilogram in the third week of May, as per a Times of India report.
The sharp rise in prices is due to disruption in supplies from tomato-growing districts of the state, the report said.
