In a significant historical finding, archaeological excavations at Pattanam in Kerala are suggesting that the iron age and post-iron age communities had no organised religion.

Although only 1% of the site has been excavated so far, archaeologists have highlighted the lack of any idols of gods or goddesses or places of worship, as per a report in The Hindu.

Additionally, no sophisticated weaponry has been found so far, contrary to many other sites from the same period.

Over 45 lakh sherds or ceramic fragments have been excavated at Pattanam so far.
