As flood waters receded on Sunday in the rain-battered Junagadh district of Gujarat a day after torrential rains, damaged caused by flooding was seen
Visuals shared by news agency ANI showed cars piled up in a residential colony in Junagadh clearly indicating the level of damage caused.
On July 22, dozens of parked cars and cattle were swept away in gushing waters in the city after it received 241 mm of rainfall in just 12 hours. People were seen wading through waist-deep water to shift to safer places. Some of them were rescued by volunteers as they were carried away in strong currents.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Gujarat in the next 24 hours. It has been informed that the state would witness more than 20 cm of rainfall and it may continue at isolated places.
